So it’s basically who dribbled and beat players more? Anyway, cared to watch CR7 at United and some bits of him at Madrid coz that’s where he changed his game? I started supporting United at 03, saw him come through, evolve, hardly missed a game specifically because of him. And he did some of those things but not to great length yes. Now, remove dribbles and beating players from R9’s game, what you got left? Do the same for CR7, what you got left…beautiful headers, free kicks, long rangers, curls, assists, things that still matter. Btw, CR7 was basically a winger turned Striker. R9 was just a striker nothing more. CR7 could assist too, enormously. Both played for Madrid, ask any Madrid fan whose spell they would repeat if possible…..you will get the answer. Bro, that guy has competed with Messi, pushed each other to limits for 20 years. If you ask me who is the best footballer, it’s either him or Messi. They move in tandem. You can’t pronounce the other and skip the other and go choose another player. If you say Messi, then CR7 comes second and vice versa. What R9 did was showing potential, that’s all. That’s why people say “what if” CR7 and Messi showed potential and actually stood on it like serious people. If going by potential peaks, there’s a pool of players you can choose from, Neymar, Hazard, etc. CR7 changing his game, adaptability is and can only be done by great players. Messi did it too. R9? I don’t know.

Someone wakes up and instills it in their mind that I want to compete to be the best and actually competes with trophies, goals, individual accolades, statistics, name it. Then another person says the same but doesn’t actually reach his potential, and guess who is praised for being better, the one with ability or potential to be the best but didn’t reach it because he scores better, dribbles better.
