Fox is the closest thing this team has to something “untouchable,” but the truth is that no one here should be off limits if the right deal comes along and if someone were to take Igor’s contract off Drury’s hands, it would be a huge favor.

$11.5m for any goalie is absurd when it’s the most team-dependent position in the sport. The salary cap changed everything, and now teams are winning with goalies who far less than elite, if you look at the history of what goalies have won and their statuses at the time they won.

Furthermore, the Rangers gave Hank a massive contract on the other side of 30 and had a small window to win with, but didn’t get it done. Now they want to make the same mistake with a lesser and less consistent goalie.

Do I trust Drury to make the right moves? No, but we don’t have a choice right now. A true rebuild must happen, it’s the only way out of hockey purgatory and the dark ages 2.0. #NYR
