@Drunkpadre@Garrett33687864@ErinSecrist@featherty I do not believe that every person who joins the military is doing so selfessly, for their country. They aren't sacrificing their time away from their families. They're actively choosing like you say, to get shipped off for months at a time.
@Garrett33687864@ErinSecrist@featherty I can't imagine taking the responsibility of teaching 20 kids any subject. I think the politics of the school administrations are causing the strife more than the teachers. But I'm not very well versed in the debate.
@ewing_garth @ErinSecrist@featherty Don't you think it's crazy to expect citizens to thank everybody in the military? My good friend was a cook in the navy and hated being thanked.
@ErinSecrist@featherty Not everybody in the military is risking their lives. Infact, most aren't. No more than the teachers and construction workers taking care of their kids while their running around blowing 700 billion dollars of our taxes
@mdog4liberty @KelgoreTrout See the problem with this type of thinking is it doesn't account for the consequences.
Yes, financial it might be ok to raise rent enough to displace someone.
But you are gonna have to own up to being called out for your lack of morals and humanity.
@GeorgeInLimbo @KelgoreTrout You've almost got the point behind the conversation.
It's becoming clear that "landlord success" = "putting poor people out on the street.
And while that may be a financial success for some, it's a raises a question of landlords especially "christian", morals or lack thereof.
McConnell today: “There is no such thing as a narrow exception” to the filibuster
Also McConnell: Uses a filibuster exception to ram through Gorsuch, Kavanaugh & Barrett, stealing SCOTUS by installing 3 ultra-right-wing Justices appointed by a man who lost the popular vote twice
