Long time no see, Twitter. After finding my chess passion and routine again this year, after many struggles and reconsiderations, after many painful losses from winning positions, I managed to hit 2000 Rapid Elo. Very grateful, and yet still so much more to learn:)
Just to add my 2 cents. I think and in my opinion Kramnik's response to Daniel's passing was cold and heartless. I didn't want to say anything in the beginning because it is not my place and Vlad has always been great towards me but things have gotten too far. In my personal view what was done and happened to Naroditsky was just shockingly and disturbingly evil and horrific. You wouldn't wish that to happen to your worst enemy. Let's say for a moment that Danya cheated (which I never believed). Would it be worth it to ruin a beautiful young life over a game? What was his soul worth?
@VBkramnik , are you done? Maybe its not too late to just stop and fix/make things better. You are a living legend to this game. The chess world is not your enemy.
I am heartbroken by Danya’s passing. We both grew up in the Bay Area, and I looked up to him from a young age. I vividly remember our first blitz games when I was nine, he was kind and generous with his advice afterward. Years later, I ran into him on a flight home from the Reykjavik Open. I nervously approached him, but his warmth and willingness to talk immediately put me at ease. As my chess career continued, we played countless blitz games, and I credit a large part of my improvement to those battles. Danya’s kindness, wisdom, and love for the game left a lasting mark on me. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones. We will all miss you dearly.
Long time no see, Chess Twitter! After coming back to play after a long break, managed to reach 1900 on https://t.co/Ofn9yhAil6 Rapid. The games are intense, excited to see how much further I can go! 🥳🥳
The last game had a very beautiful ending, very proud of myself to have found it. All the rated puzzles definitely helped me here. White to move, can you see the winning sequence?
Long time no see, Twitter! Managed to cross 1800 on https://t.co/Ofn9yhAil6 Rapid after coming back to playing on December 31st after being inspired by the World Rapid and Blitz tournaments and a friend. All the hard work in games and puzzles paying off! 🥳🥳
Managed to cross 2900 in https://t.co/Ofn9yhAil6 Rated Puzzles! Interesting and challenging puzzles forcing me to really think for a while sometimes at this rating 🤠
After crossing 2700 just 2 days ago, somehow today I also managed to surpass 2800 in https://t.co/Ofn9yhAil6 Rated Puzzles. Doing many puzzles paying off I suppose! 🥳
@mikemck2022 Actually, just realised that after Rd1 black also has not so natural looking Qd7 then after trying the same Bxe5+ Nxe5 the knight is very well placed and if then Qh6+ Kg8 Rxd7 Nxd7 doesn't look great for white >.<
@mikemck2022 Took a while but I think it's Rd1 threatening to win the queen after discovery with check, Qg8 seems like the best try else the queen is gone, then Bxe5+ to distract the knight from protecting d8, Nxe5, Qh6+, Qh7, Rd8#. Is it right?
What is better than a @chesscom "brilliant" sacrifice and a successful attack afterwards to start the day? Have a nice day and good progress in chess everyone! 🥳
@mikemck2022 Looking forward to it, thanks for all these puzzles, good exercise for me when I go through chess puzzles related tweets! Especially nice to see when they're from real games
@mikemck2022 Is it bxc3+, Qxc3, Ba3+, (key move to distract the king), Kxa3, Qxc3 winning the queen? Actually, just after writing this noticed that your moves can be seen above, you should probably hide it next time haha
