All victims and all families of victims are unique. They are all different. I do believe what they have in common is: -They want to be respected and heard. -They want to be believed. -They want their loved one, if gone, to be remembered. -They want to know what really happened, they want justice for themselves or their loved one, and they want some sense of closure. -They want the criminal to finally admit what he/she did and for that person to have some sort of empathy (this rarely happens). -And most do want the person who hurt them or who murdered their loved one to be punished. 8 years of Newsom hasn’t produced or supported any of the above. What I have seen is: -A governor who supported and endorsed Gascón for SF police chief, SF DA and eventually LA DA. This has had horrible effects on so many in SF and LA. Supporting victims isn’t just a week or month event and it’s never political. It’s really just, in your heart, the right thing to do as a human being. -A governor who supported AB109, Prop 47, Prop 57 and no capital punishment ever, even for people who are convicted of torturing, raping and murdering children. Little Gabriel Fernandez will always be in my heart and come to mind. -A governor who authorized the early release of so many violent criminals over the last 8 years, even sex traffickers of children, from prison. -A governor who supported open air drug markets in SF. Fentanyl has killed so many innocent children in CA. I could really could go on and on. This is not a D or an R issue for me. This is me. This is who I am. Actions not words. Leaders not politicians. Let’s change this LA and CA. Supporting victims isn’t political. It is just the right thing for all of us to do.
