@JusticeGinaBvds Excellent program called “Paving the Path to the Courthouse” hosted by Texas Latinx Judges. Proud to do our part to build the pipeline.

Chief Justice Hecht further remarked the appellate courts are “fully prepared” to handle the anticipated increase in appellate filings.

[Chief Justice Dori Contreras @JusticeDori]

As Council of Chiefs Chair, I’m proud to report Chief Justice Hecht’s praise of the fourteen appellate courts in his testimony before the Texas House Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee for doing “an extraordinary job” and a “marvelous job in catching up” post pandemic.

Becoming the first woman Chief Justice on the 13th Court of Appeals, and only the second Latina statewide to serve as a Chief Justice, is truly an honor.

It has been my pleasure to work with Chief Justice Valdez for 16 yrs. He will leave behind an impressive legacy of a 36 year judicial career and great leadership at the court. I intend to do my best as I step into his shoes and continue leading the court into its next chapter.
