Today being the 1st of March, 2025, signals the historic commencement of the construction of our iconic 9-storey Secretariat Complex for the Civil Servants in the State.

Our worthy daughter, Dame (Mrs.) Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, is scheduled to perform the foundation laying ceremony for this legacy project.

This event is part of our activities marking the 5th Anniversary of the Prosperity Administration.

We Are Marching Forward!

Our Government of Assured Prosperity in Bayelsa State has commenced the construction of an iconic 9-storey Civil Servants Secretariat Complex in Yenagoa.

Let me appreciate my dear sister, a worthy daughter of Bayelsa State and current Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dame (Mrs.) Didi Esther Walson-Jack, for doing us the honour of performing the Groundbreaking/Foundation Laying ceremony for the Legacy Project expected to be ready in 24 months.

We are undertaking this project to provide a more conducive work space for our workers and I have assured the contractors of regular and adequate funding of the job.

I am happy that the workers are excited at the project and would be waiting for the successful completion on schedule.

I say hearty congratulations to all Bayelsans on this historic day.

We Are Building A New Yenagoa!

The urbanisation efforts of our Prosperity Administration to improve facilities within Yenagoa, the State Capital, are beginning to yield positive results.

Today, as part of activities marking our 5th anniversary, I had the pleasure of hosting my brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State to inaugurate two key projects within the New Yenagoa City- a new Commissioner’s Quarter and 2.1 km Dualised Road 1 within the new city.

It's quite welcoming to note that our people are excited at the massive construction work going on in the New Yenagoa City.

We are very intentional in our drive to lay a solid foundation for a new Yenagoa that can match up with other big cities in the country in terms of infrastructures and social activities.

Our administration is building legacy projects to change the face of the state capital.

Polaku-Sabagreia Bridge, Road Project To Be Ready This Year!

This afternoon, I visited yet another ongoing project of the Assured Prosperity Administration, the Polaku-Sabagreia road and the bridge.

I was joined by key stakeholders and beneficiaries of the road including lawmaker representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 2, Hon. Wisdom Fafi, Retired Rear Admiral Geoffrey Yanga, former Senior Special Assistant to the President on Domestic, Dr. Waripamowei Dudafa, the State Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Gesiye Isowo and a few of my Commissioners.

The contractor, Zerock Construction Company has assured that the project would be delivered before the end of this year for inauguration and use.

Yes, the project is progressing and it is well funded!

This afternoon in Trofani community, Sagbama LGA of Bayelsa State, I joined other leaders of our dear state including the former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR, @GEJonathan and the immediate past Governor and current Senator representing Bayelsa West, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, @iamHSDickson to attend the funeral service in honour of our departed brother, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Moses Jitoboh.

Moses, had a distinguished career in the service to our country and Bayelsa State and left indelible mark on law enforcement.

Jitoboh, a thorough-bred professional was indeed a fine gentleman officer whose humility and charisma earned him so much respect and admiration from all who came in contact with him.

While we continue to mourn the passing of an illustrious citizen, may I on behalf of the Government and people of Bayelsa State urge the immediate and extended families to take solace in the fact that our late brother lived a life of exceptional service.

Our prayers will continue to be with you, the Jitoboh family, even at this difficult time.

"Protecting Our Deltas, Securing Our Future" was the rallying cry as I earlier today addressed the United Nations Convention on Conserving of River Deltas (UNCCRD) summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

Drawing from our experience with the environmental challenges in my home State of Bayelsa, I urged for a global action to safeguard our Deltas from the devastating impacts of climate change and environmental degradation.

I reminded the summit of the challenges faced by coastal communities along the banks of the Atlantic Ocean in Bayelsa State who are equally facing threats from coastal erosion, ocean surge and salt water encroachment from rising high-sea levels.

The affected communities include Agge, Orobiri, Bilabiri, Amatu, and Aghoro in Ekeremor Local Government Area as well as Ezetu, Foropa, Koluama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and then Odioama, Okpoama, Akassa, Twon-Brass, and Sangana among others in Brass Local Government Area.

As a region, we need urgent and collective assistance to dredge our water courses and erect shore protection, to address the climate crises and protect our most vulnerable communities as the very survival of our people now hangs in the balance.

Regrettably, coastal communities in Bayelsa State and elsewhere in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria have continued to face threats of coastal erosion and oil pollution.

For us in the Niger Delta and Bayelsa, in particular, over a half century of oil exploration has left a legacy of pollution that not only scars our environment, destroying our Deltas, but also rob our people of their dignity and well-being.

In my address on the occasion, I emphasized the need for collective action to protect these vital ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future for our communities.

It is good to note that the UNCCRD summit will at the end deliver a White Paper to the United Nations, making operational the UN Convention for Conserving River Deltas (UNCCRD).

We are in this together.

Our Government Committed to Nembe-Brass Road Project!

The Government of Assured Prosperity is satisfied with the progress so far recorded on the ongoing construction of the first phase of the Nembe-Brass road project.

Again today, I made another visit to the site to demonstrate our commitment to the strategic and historic project.

The contractor handling the project has assured that the construction of the second major bridge across Kiberi River, which is 120 metres long would be completed within the next six months.

The funding of this project and others remain our priority.

Yesterday, I performed the kick-off for the commencement of the 2025 edition of the Prosperity Football tournament at the main bowl of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom.

This competition has become the largest grassroots gathering of talents in Africa and through this annual competition, we have continued to engage our youth positively.

After the opening formalities, I sat back to watch the first game of the 7th edition between defending champions, Ogboinbiri FC and Bayelsa United Feeders team.

Together with the Deputy Governor, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, we were thrilled by the very entertaining match, which ended 1-1.

This morning, I received with sadness the news of the passing of our father and foremost leader of Ijaw ethnic nationality, Chief (Dr.) Senator Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.

The Ijaw nation has lost its father-figure and irrepressible voice.

Chief Clark was an icon, a treasure of inestimable value and a nationalist par excellence.

He was a distinguished patriot, who dedicated his whole life to the service of Nigeria. Until the very end, he was unrelenting.

As the Ijaw nation reflects on the passage of this exceptional sage, we take solace in his matchless contributions to national development.

On behalf of the Ijaw nation, the government and people of Bayelsa State, I express heartfelt condolences to the Clark family of Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area and the Delta State government.

I pray the Lord grants the family and indeed the Ijaw nation the grace to bear this great loss.

I have consequently directed that all flags in the state fly at half-mast for three days while all our government’s fifth anniversary activities remain suspended for the same period.

What a historic day! We have built, inaugurated and handed over a brand new building to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) as their secretariat.

Let me appreciate my Brother-Governor of Rivers State, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, @SimFubaraKSC for doing us the honour of inaugurating the project as part of activities to celebrate our 5th Anniversary as a government.

While I am happy that our government of Assured Prosperity has been able to provide the labour unions with a good edifice to carry out their functions, I do appreciate their leaders and hardworking members for the existing harmonious relationship with the government.

The Prosperity Administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of workers just as we are striving to ensure the clearing of all outstanding gratuities and pensions to the retirees.

Today, we resumed activities marking the 5th anniversary of our Government of Assured Prosperity and it was a double celebration at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Ovom, Yenagoa.

I am particularly happy with the valued interventions in our educational system by the State Educational Development Trust Funds (EDTF) and the distribution of starter packs to 2850 successful trainees of the Governor Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme.

Good to note that among other worthy awardees, I was honoured by the EDTF for our support of the growth of education in the State.

I wish to appreciate the selfless leadership of the board for the past 5 years, and we hope to do more as a government for the betterment of the educational sector, particularly now that our focus is more on science and technical education.

Also, the 2,850 successful participants of the Diri Skills Acquisition Programme were today given their starter packs as I encouraged them to kick start their entrepreneurial journey, grow to become great employers of labour, and grow the state by extension.

As a government, we take human capital development seriously, and we don't play politics with the empowerment of our people.

At the occasion today, I re-echoed our plan to achieve a 24-hour power supply across the state, a legacy that will boost industrialisation and economic growth.

This is a commitment I have made and by the grace of God, this will happen before the end of this year.

Once again, I say congratulations to all the beneficiaries and I urge them not to sell off the starter packs our government has provided for them.

Today, I led the State Executive Council to host a valedictory session in honour of our departed colleague, late Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei, Commissioner for Women, Children Affairs, Empowerment and Social Development.

It was an emotional moment for me and members of the Executive Council as we took turns in our various tributes to reflect on the life and times of Late Mrs. Bidei.

At the brief ceremony, I felt an overwhelming sense of grief for the loss of a woman I saw as a source of encouragement, pillar
of strength, and strong support to me personally.

As I listened to the tributes and recollections about her, it became abundantly clear that there is a wealth of stories and cherished
memories we could share in honour of her remarkable life.

Later in the afternoon, the Deputy Governor, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, @iamElaw my wife, Dr. Gloria Diri, and I, led top government functionaries to join the Bidei family for the funeral service at Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State.

On behalf of the Government and people of Bayelsa State , I send my deepest condolences to the immediate family of our dear sister and pray God to repose her soul trusting that Mrs. Bidei’s legacy will continue to guide us as we strive to make Bayelsa State a better place for all.

I wish to appreciate our leader and father, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,GCFR, @GEJonathan for joining us on our 5th Anniversary to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new 25,000 capacity ultra-modern stadium at Igbogene, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

We are being deliberate in building new facilities to boost sports development in the State.

This afternoon, I made an inspection visit to some of our ongoing housing projects in Yenagoa.

I was at the New Yenagoa city where our Government of Prosperity is almost completing both the new Commissioners’ and Legislators’ Quarters initiated by this administration.

These quarters are part of the major signature projects we are going to inaugurate during our 5th anniversary this February.

With the new and massive road construction within the new Yenagoa City, it is evident that we are building a new Bayelsa city; a well planned city in Yenagoa.

Also, I visited the Okaka housing estate for civil servants where we are completing some of the abandoned housing units.

Indeed, in this second tenure of ours, housing remains our focus and we want to pursue it vigorously.

I am impressed with the quality and pace of work at the various sites and this gives me confidence that we can do more of the housing projects.

Today in company of my ever supportive Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, and other top Government functionaries, I received agricultural equipment donated to the State by the South Korean Government.

The hand over made by the visiting South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Kim Pan-Kyu at the School To-Land premises, Edepie along Imiringi road, Yenagoa, is a testament to our revolutionary drive to boost agriculture, particularly rice production in the state.

On the occasion, I appreciated the South Korean Government for the gesture and appealed to Ambassador Pan-Kyu, for the continued collaboration to attract investment opportunities to Bayelsa State.

I stated the fact that Bayelsa is one of the safest states in Nigeria and urged the Korean Government and other investors to come and invest in the State.
