@EwesHughes Honestly, I have no idea about legal process in these cases. Perhaps there’s some type of class action movement available to those who come out with a failing result tomorrow? Once we see the type of grades affected people are given tomorrow we’ll know more.
This week is when our Case Study results will be returned to us.
I would urge anyone who was unfairly affected by the issues with the exam sitting and was given a failing grade to get in contact with us on results day to help us coordinate a response to the ICAEW
@JusticeforCase1 It would be the right thing to do for ICAEW to publish the figures for number of exams “voided” this time around as part of their exam results statistics as well as PY figures for reference to ensure transparency in the matter.
@jz89241659 If the response from the ICAEW is to void exams and make people resit through no fault of their own, then the backlash needs to be significant and I will look to help organise a response as best as I can.
@jz89241659 I’m perhaps over-optimistic, but from what they’ve said (i.e references to not slowing “career progression”) and the potential backlash due to the sheer number of people unable to finish their exams because of ICAEW error, I’m hopeful it will be a different, unique process
. @ICAEW Can you please clarify what the process is going to be for moderating the Case Study exam for those who lost time? Will it be a case of marking only completed requirements and applying that mark to the whole exam? The response as provided is not clear enough.
@ICAEW A statement needs to be issued now. Assurance needs to be given to students who have suffered a great deal of stress today through no fault of their own.
The only acceptable solution is to mark the work that was submitted for affected students and apply the percentage to the whole exam. The pressure is on you, @ICAEW to treat your students ethically and not penalise them for something that was your fault.
For anyone reading this - we as students paid a lot of money and invested great amounts of time into sitting Case Study today and to have unfinished exams submitted or the submission process fail is unacceptable
@ICAEW The only solution is to mark up to where students reached and apply a percentage accordingly. The fault is entirely with your systems and no one should have to resit an exam because of that reason alone.
