40% of their household income goes straight to their mortgage before any other needs. That's insane.

Yeah and my bank said I was approved for a $400k mortgage loan but I only took on a $250k loan because that's what I could afford.

A $500k mortgage payment is insane for a household with a $80k/year income. It's unsustainable even if they get disability or whatever welfare programs they are in. They are way in over their head.

@BankonomicsGuy @Ankara_inc How is this horrible advice? Their monthly payment alone is more than their income can handle. They take home maybe $1000-1500 every two week, if that. They can't handle a $2600+/month mortgage payment, that's almost 100% their income for the month.

I was in a similar position where my parents put down a substantial amount to help me buy a house. However, we were smart in buying a house we could actually afford. A $2600+ mortgage payment a month? These people are going to be foreclosed within a year at most.
