Hey so yeah if social skills were taught at all at home we wouldn't have to teach them at school. School shouldn't be the first place where a child is told no or has actual consequences for their actions.
@DisrespectedThe You don't need to go to college to be intelligent but you still need teachers, doctors, counselors, and a host of other professions that require a college degree.
WHY ARE TEACHERS LEAVING THE PROFESSION?
•Inadequate preparation for new teachers
•Lack of support, respect
•Class sizes
•Low salaries
•Lunch & prep times are too short
•Better opportunities elsewhere
•Student behaviors with inadequate consequences
MUST DO BETTER!
@FixingEducation If that happened I would bet that admin would have a much easier time with student behaviors, scheduling, etc because the teachers would feel valued and wanting to help admin more. Interesting thought!
I just overheard a prominent leader addressing a group of junior/senior high students. He asked the group, "What is something that stresses you out?" First answer was sports. That just struck me as kind of sad.
“You have such an easy job!”
“You don’t work many hours!”
“You get to go home at 3!”
“You get summers off!”
“You have so many breaks during the year!”
IF IT’S SO GREAT, why does America currently have the biggest teaching shortage in U.S. history?
