Are we really comfortable with our politicians ridiculing serving military officers because they disagree with the government policy those officers have been tasked to implement?
Disagree with capabilities, processes, outcomes or even strategy… but ridiculing someone who has spent their adult life serving this country is beneath the standard we should expect from our elected representatives.
It’s childish.
Why am I calling this out? Because the standard you walk past is the standard you accept. We should not accept this from our elected representatives, regardless of political party.

Almost all of Australia's trade travels by sea. Our fuel, food, pharmaceuticals and essentials depend on secure maritime access. That's not a detail, it's an existential vulnerability.
Anyone who dismisses protecting Australia's maritime trade isn't just unserious about national security. They're negligent.
AUKUS and our commitment to nuclear-powered submarines is how we protect that.

Umm…what an utterly ridiculous tweet & premise. Here’s the question, here’s the answer 👇. It may change in the future, but let’s not try and play with facts because it doesn’t support your narrative. Also why does the Director (& Deputy Director) of the 🇦🇺🇨🇳 Relations institute care so much about what subs 🇦🇺 operates? 🤷♀️
PM&C dep sec Nadine Williams is interim National Armaments Director. The govt is yet to find a suitable candidate to fill the role permanently. The new Defence Delivery Agency starts July 1, but doesn't become a separate entity from Defence until July 1, 2027.
Support for nuclear-powered subs hold firm. Almost seven in ten Australians (68%) say they are either ‘strongly in favour’ or ‘somewhat in favour’. Only 29% of Australians say they are either ‘somewhat against’ or ‘strongly against’, a three-point drop from last year.
