Today we say, "Don't just sit there - do something." The early church believed, "Don't just do something - sit there." Acts 13:2 - "They fasted and ministered to the Lord." Spirit-empowered impact FOLLOWS worship-based prayer. #prayer#power#HolySpirit ,
Gentle & Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund
This biblical portrait of Christ corrected & comforted me in a way no book has.
“The Christian life can either be lived for the heart of Christ or from the heart of Christ.”

Dangerous Calling by Tripp plows deep. Glaring reminder that pastoral work is truly a call. Pray for pastors (so thankful for mine). Must read for any pastor/aspiring pastor.

Every pastor needs to read and reread Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire. So much wisdom and convicting truth.
“Only turning God’s house into a house of fervent prayer will reverse the power of evil so evident in the world today.”
“The old saying is true: If you have only the Word, you dry up. If you have only the Spirit, you blow up. But if you have both, you grow up.” - @jimcymbala Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire
@stephenjnesbitt@MLB would be shooting themselves in the foot to not consider Raleigh, North Carolina as the next top viable landing spot for expansion. In every metric, it’s not even close. @MLBRaleigh
Any one else have trouble ordering / getting tires from @Costco ? Went with them since we have executive membership but ive learned my lesson—just go to the local tire shop that already has your standard tire in stock and can install fast. It’s been two weeks and still no tires!
And then…as soon as I make a tweet on X, @facebook is connected to the underworld of SPAMMERS and I get hit up with everyone BUT the people I need to hear from.
@facebook has the poorest way for its users to contact them. Don’t try emailing—fail. Don’t try navigating their endless lists of “helps.” Don’t try their 650 number you find on google—it only leads to a quick reminder to do all the other stuff then hangs up on you. What gives?
The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Finally read this classic. Too many good quotes but this was my fav:
“Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock.”

The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Caused an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt
As an “atheist”, why replace a smart phone with a bicycle? Still good moral, logical perspectives—I wonder where or Who that all stems from? https://t.co/LV7XMjgK2p
David Wilkerson: The Cross, the Switchblade, and the Man Who Believed by Gary Wilkerson
• Reminded God chooses the least expected to do great things
• Admire how he didn’t care about the denomination (AOGs) heads when he made decisions.
• Very inspired https://t.co/4gwjqHVqyh
Steinbrenner: The Last Lion of Baseball by Bill Madden
• Thought more of The Boss reading Joe Torre’s account (Yankee Years) than this book.
• To have “it all” and not know the Lord is to have nothing.
• Loved learning more of the 70s NYY era. https://t.co/XJjtZmNi1O
Look upon me and be merciful to me, as Your custom is toward those who love Your name. Direct my steps by your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep your precepts. Psalm 119: 132-144
