Exciting. Informed. Passionate. Union advocate. Member of Parliament. Dad. Thinker. Not necessarily in that order. Coffee always welcome. Views are my own.
Commuters can now have confidence that all revenue is re-invested into a safer and more reliable public transport system, rather than into company profits.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 National #NAIDOCWeek Awards for Keeping the Fire Burning!
Some of team were privileged to attend the awards ceremony, which was held in Tarndanya (Adelaide) on Kaurna Yerta (Country) over the weekend.
I am deeply saddened to learn that Ian Smith has passed away after losing his battle with cancer, an insidious disease that impacts so many people we know and love.
Ian was a good man who worked tirelessly for almost half his life to deliver better conditions for his members at the TWU.
He was a great servant of the labour movement, he was a dear friend and he will be sadly missed by the entire Labor family.
May he rest in peace.
Something has just happened in SA, that has never happened before:
We now have the BEST unemployment rate in the whole nation, and at 3.2%, it is the LOWEST ever recorded in the history of South Australia.
Attorney General Kyam Maher says last nights no vote was “disappointing” for many South Australians. But says the decision won’t impact SA’s voice. @9NewsAdel
Today Anthea, Tia, Helena & I all went to vote together. Collectively we discussed this referendum & my daughters made me so proud. As a family we voted yes.
In the words of EMK, “the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”
@SuePHawke “Dad would be fearful that the negativity, anger and slurs broadcast all too freely in the past months will poison the future. (He would call bullshit on all the carry-on.) He believed with all his heart in the basic decency of Australians.”
It’s not too late. Vote YES everyone
I’m just so happy this referendum has brought to light the many, many friendships racists have with Local True Aboriginal Elders they’ve hidden from us for all these years.
It is hard to keep up with David Speirs and his position on the Voice.
Just 2 years ago he was a Minister in a Liberal Government who endorsed a Liberal bill that would have introduce a Voice to SA Parliament.
Then he said the Liberals wouldn’t campaign for or against a voice.
As at midday today around 35,000 votes had been cast at early voting centres across NT, TAS, VIC & WA.
Setup of early voting centres is underway in other areas of Australia for commencement tomorrow.
It was fantastic to meet workers with @PMalinauskasMP . They are right to be excited and proud.
Not just for their contribution to our economy up until now, but also for how they’ll help us drive a clean energy future.
