Today, on the Trans Day of Visibility, and every day, our message is clear: trans rights are human rights. 🏳️⚧️
And if you can’t be visible, if the hate feels too heavy some days, know that we see you and we love you.

When AHS was formed, it was intentionally designed to be apolitical and separated from Alberta Health. It had a board of diverse community minded people who oversaw the organization and moderated it. This is not the case now. All the safeguards have been intentionally removed.
Albertans are slowly waking up to the depths of the scandal enveloping the UCP government.
A lot of folks are wondering how to explain what's going on to people who haven't been tuning in.
Here's the what, so what now what, and what's next of the situation. 🧵
Again, and I simply cannot stress this enough, we have empirical data that shows the Alberta Surgical Initiative (or the expansion of chartered surgical facilities) did not improve the wait times.
I've been quiet on here as my mat leave soon comes to an end, but can't resist watching today's press conference and tweeting about it!
There are some underlying issues at play that existed even without the recent scandal, although it serves to bring those issues into focus. /1
"Why is it that all of a sudden there’s no money to pay living wages for folks, yet we can harvest portions of our health care system off for a private industry?”
HSAA President Mike Parker reacts to bombshell allegations of political interference in health care.
@CTVCalgary:
Trump during the election: No new wars!
Trump after inauguration: We’re going to send the U.S. military in to conquer Gaza, Greenland, Canada, Mexico, and the Panama Canal!
Retaliatory tariffs will apply to ~30% of Canada's imports from the U.S.
While the list of items is not yet out, this amount suggests to me that intermediate inputs will largely avoid a tariff on Canada's side, which mitigates some of the #cdnecon costs from this response.
So Dr. Gary Davidson, chair of the Alberta COVID-19 task force, has yet to give a press conference. But is doing the full cycle of alternative media: podcast with Chris from Whistle Stop Cafe, interview with Rachel Parker of True North, attending next Injection of Truth event.
If Poilievre doesn’t intend to privatize healthcare in Canada, why’s he hanging out and having fundraisers with people who get wealthy from privatized healthcare.
Gateway and @Hennig1Leah killing it once again. Turns out this entire time, weeks before the university's official statement saying it had nothing to do with politics, Janice MacKinnon told the BoG to scrap the EDI office.

More baseless right-wing propaganda from David Staples. There is no evidence that EDI policies have restricted the enrolment of white men in @UAlberta degree programs. I challenge him to produce it. 1/

Had to do a bit of fact-checking on Don Braid's weekend column. If our news media can't, or isn't willing to, provide accurate information about important topics, how can we expect the public to make good educated opinions on them? #ableg#yyc
Not surprised of course, but this is absolutely fucking disgraceful.
Well done @ABDanielleSmith. You’ve just told every queer kid in Alberta that you’re ok with people comparing them to literal shit if it means you survive your leadership review.
