@AlamoCaesar@WrestlerHauser As for $125/day for NU actors... lol. That's IF they negotiate pay.
So many NU actors are so happy to work that they'll literally work for nothing or for gas money. Doesn't matter the hours, days, content, etc.
@AlamoCaesar@WrestlerHauser I'd also argue typical BTL charging $250-$400/12 on average. Depending on the position and budget, obviously, you're looking at AT LEAST $350/12 if they're not union, and more if they are
I even know PA's nowadays that won't take anything less than $300/12, no matter the budget
@AlamoCaesar@WrestlerHauser $240/day NOW... Was less than that for years until recent contract negotiations. And that is IF its anything above Micro or Ultra Low. There's a large majority of low-budget indies shooting for less than $30k, so more often than not, you're having to go with a negotiable rate.
First clip from 'EVIL DEAD BURN' drinks hot wax to the fullest!
One quote from Vaniček has me especially excited: “I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested.”
That’s exactly what I want from an ‘EVIL DEAD’ movie.
Here's everything we know: [https://t.co/d2XSRtKb0s]
@WrestlerHauser "Well, guess this hostel for $30 a night and some McDonald's will do the trick tonight." 😂
Dude, I swear. The amount of times I've heard someone on crew complain about their pay in relation to the majority (if not all) of the actors on that set making even HALF of that...
@WrestlerHauser This really shows her inexperience working on independent film. Indie is not where you get rich - you work on the hope you make a great product with solid connections that could pay off eventually.
For every job I got my theatrical rate, I worked 30 jobs where I didn't.
For every Barker there are 100s of filmmakers who risked it all with 6 figure budgets out of their own pocket and instead of box office smash hits they were financially ruined.
And yes, the crew was fed and paid !
Always on the side of below-the-line workers, but this was a bad idea & could jeopardize her career.
The fact that she had very limited experience prior to this (a short film) & managed to make $6,700/month for this is shocking.
I'm not sure who she is trying to criticize here.
One of my favorite actors - brilliant and deeply nuanced. An absolute stand-out from "Buffy" amongst a bevy of stand-outs on that cast, and pretty much every other project too.
From all accounts, he was an incredible man in real life too.
Thank you for being our watcher, Giles.
@rendy_jones Oh I did. The two teens (had to have just turned 18) ran out of there the IMMEDIATE second the movie was over.
And when I mean ran, I mean SPRINTED.
@TJLang70 I'm almost firmly convinced AJ is subliminally tanking the team to speak out against Scott Harris.
I could be WAY wrong, but man, how can you explain any of what is happening right now?
@AKlay19 The tides have turned in several ways.
You're going to see more horror films, new filmmakers, low budgets that are upscaled with huge marketing campaigns, and a stronger emphasis on making sure the film is of quality.
You know, like it all should be done.
When is Hollywood going to admit that if a film simply isn’t good, no amount of marketing can save it?
Audience reactions, the film community on Twitter/X, and genuine word of mouth are what truly decide a movie’s fate. People love talking about films, and when they genuinely connect with one, that conversation becomes the strongest marketing possible.
Word of mouth can either kill a film or completely revive it. You can spend millions on promotion, but if audiences aren’t responding, it won’t matter. That’s why studios should care just as much about the reaction after release as they do about the campaign before it.
And with Obsession, the word of mouth has been insane. That’s exactly why, even in its third week, it’s still pulling numbers that most films today can’t sustain. That kind of box office run only happens when audiences truly believe in the film and keep telling other people to watch it.
Do ya'll realize this is unheard of?
No movie IN HISTORY has ever done what #Obsession is doing right now.
Not one. Not an event movie. Not a tent pole franchise. NOT ONE.
I cannot imagine the cloud that everyone involved with the film is riding on right now.
@blumhouse
> be Disney
> spend $165 million and 7 years making a new Star Wars movie
> first one in theaters in 7 years
> open it on Memorial Day with 4,300 theaters and the entire Lucasfilm marketing machine
> take #1 for the weekend. finally
> then Monday comes
> lose to Obsession
> lose to Obsession again Tuesday
> lose to Obsession again Wednesday
> Obsession is a horror movie made for under $1 million
> it went UP 39% in its second weekend. yours opened below Solo
> a movie that cost less than your craft services budget just retook #1
you brought Star Wars back to theaters after 7 years. it got out-grossed on a Wednesday by a wish-granting toy from a movie 200 times cheaper.
Saw #Obsession again last night (Tuesday) in MI at an 830 pm showing. Whole thing was sold out. Mostly by annoying post-teen 20 year olds that didn't give a fuck about the movie & just wanted to fart around because seeing Obsession is "the trend."
Never seen anything like this.
OBSESSION goes crazy this Tuesday and increases over 50% from last week.
It’s now tracking to outgross its $17.2M debut again on its third weekend. A phenomenon!
