“Fortunate Son” is from Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 1969 album Willy and the Poor Boys. The sharp, anti-war rock track became one of the most powerful protest songs of the Vietnam era and a permanent part of American rock history. Released alongside "Down on the Corner" as a double A-sided single, it helped the record reach #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Fogerty wrote the song after seeing a magazine photo of Julie Nixon (daughter of President Richard Nixon) marrying David Eisenhower (grandson of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower).
