This week we started working on throwing discs. Some Ss picked a wildly important goal that is throwing with accuracy. For this activity they must throw a disc to a teammate who is standing in a hoop. If they catch it they bring the hoop back with them. #JMA

Ss had to find all 6 of their team’s dots that were hidden under the 36 cones. They had to work together to create strategies and monitor other teams at the same time. Fun way for students to put teamwork into action. #BES #PE #teamwork

This year we are starting with the 3 Cs of teamwork. Communication Collaboration Cooperation. Ss had to put those skills into practice by getting the dodgeballs off the big parachute while the smalls tried to get them back on. BES 5th grade did an outstanding job. #BES

Ss practiced throwing with power and accuracy while playing Monster Ball. Ss had to hit a large ball with a smaller one in order to get the large ball to cross the court. Monster Ball was a BLAST. #JMA #PEisFun #physicaleducation #monsterball

Ss played Bull’s Eye today. The objective is to be the team playing defense when the time stops. They work as a team playing defense protecting the cone or offense trying to knock the cone over. If the cone falls they switch roles. Fun to watch Ss make connections. #mathewbears

Mr.C and Mrs. Janine do an amazing job at SCA Mathew giving Ss the opportunity to participate in team activities during the Ss lunch break. It brings me joy to hear them have fun and make great memories spending quality time with their friends. #SCAMathew SCABears #burtonschools

This week we are working on dribbling. Ss played a game called frogger today. They had to dribble as many basketballs down the court as possible in under a minute. Ss were engaged and getting great practice in. They were also learning how to communicate on defense.#burtonschools

Ss have been working on striking for the last 2 weeks. Ss started by practicing some of the skills in smaller activities working up to playing a game of pickleball. #pe #burtonbullpups #JMA

Ss participated in Castle Ball in order to demonstrate how to throw a ball with accuracy and field a ground ball. Students have to throw a ball and knock down other teams hula huts while defending their own. #SCAmathew #burtonschooldistrict #PE

Today we played a short warm-up/tag game to get ready for our passing lesson. The Ss got to work together to try and keep the tagger from getting one selected individual by spinning around as a group. #teamwork #burtonexperience

I have a special opportunity to watch Ss develop and improve on skills for 3 years. Such a joy to see students meet their WIG. Students were practicing distance throws and well as tracking and catching. The Ss skills with discs are amazing.

We are starting our disc throwing unit. Ss are participating in disc golf, throwing at moving targets and stationary targets. Ss are practicing to achieve their WIG. #burtonexperience

Wrapping up our striking unit with GaGaBall and 9-Square. GaGaBall is a fun game that we started last year but this year we get to play it with the pit. Ss love it and they get a good workout when playing.

This past week the Ss did a non-traditional warm up playing Switch and practiced their strikes playing a game of 4-Square. Using a variety of games and activities allows students to make connections and develop strategies. #burtonexperience #peisfun #bes #jma #4square
