1/6 3 data points I can’t stop thinking about in K–12 (heading into 2026):

2/6 Teacher shortages: the latest national scan estimates ~411,549 teaching positions are either vacant or filled by teachers not fully certified (~1 in 8).

3/6 Outcomes: NAEP reports 12th-grade math & reading scores down since 2019, with widening gaps between highest- and lowest-performing students.

4/6 Policy is catching up: federal guidance is pushing “responsible AI use” in schools, and states are now being tracked on AI + CS standards/guidance.

5/6 My takeaway: curriculum quality matters — but implementation + teacher capacity are the bottleneck.
AI should REMOVE workload (planning/grading/reporting), not add another tool to manage.
