Thanks to @ltgovhashmi and our partner organizations for participating in the @NOVA_Parks Women’s Equality Day celebration.
Today’s event at Occoquan Regional Park commemorates the ratification of the 19th amendment and the continued work to extend suffrage to ALL women.
We had the honor of meeting LGen Rohmer of the Royal Canadian Air Force 2 years ago in Caen, France (he turned 102 in Jan!).
He performed critical aerial reconn over Nazi-occupied France in advance of DDay.
Canada is our ally and has been for every battle for over a century.
The Wife and I have been engaged in a small-group project for nearly 22 years.
Today we turn in our second assignment as Kid2 becomes a @virginia_tech Hokie, and we head back north to a very quiet house.
Do great things, Daughter, and do them in the right way.
…and have fun!
A wonderful review of the @NOVA_Parks W&OD Trail.
We already knew it was the best trail on the planet, but it's important to have outside validation.

@LegislativeAI@na_me_eso_atta I’m not dunking on anyone.
But we do not have party registration in Virginia, nor do we have closed primaries.
As a consequence, when you vote in a dual primary, you must designate which one you wish to participate in. That happens when you vote or in advance for mail voting.
@LegislativeAI@na_me_eso_atta Not exactly. We do not have party registration.
But if you are signing up for permanent absentee ballots, you need to designate which party's primary ballot the registrar should send you. The choice is just for primaries.
When you vote in person, you make that selection orally.
Almost 4 years ago to the day, I christened Hazel, our tunnel boring machine as she got to work under our City on behalf of @AlexandriaRenew
Yesterday, I was back to celebrate the completion of our largest-ever infrastructure project and a commitment to cleaner waterways!
The Supreme Court has allowed TPS for Haitians to end, putting families in Springfield and communities across the country at risk of being sent back to a country in chaos. Congress can and should extend these protections.
Good journalists educate us, enable our democracy and hold power to account.
@JulieCareyNBC is not only the best in the business, but she is an integral part of our Alexandria community.
Best wishes on your next chapter and I’ll see you in the ‘hood!

Great crowd at the @NOVA_Parks Tinner Hill Historic Site to celebrate Juneteenth!
Over a century ago, the first rural NAACP branch in our nation was founded to prevent enforcement of a segregation ordinance that sought to divide a community.
A morning visit to @NOVA_Parks Carlyle House on Juneteenth to take in a guided tour telling the stories of the enslaved who lived in the house in the 18th century.
Our @NOVA_Parks team was honored to welcome @GovernorVA & @ltgovhashmi to The River View at Occoquan Regional Park for a bill signing today.
Following the bill signing, our volunteer docents were able to guide the Governor through the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial.
Please join us tomorrow at @NOVA_Parks Bull Run Regional Park as we commemorate Juneteenth in partnership with the Fairfax County Branch of the NAACP.
The program begins at 3 PM followed by an ice cream social!
See you there!
Finished up today at @NOVA_Parks Volcano Island at Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling.
Tonight the second half of our group did in-service training as part of our aquatics kick-off.
Lesson for next year: Wear my bathing suit for the aquatics kick-off.
Ended the day back at Great Waves at Cameron Run Regional Park.
I spoke to the team as part of our aquatics kick-off as they participate in safety training.
This summer @NOVA_Parks has hired 600 seasonal employees and we remain one of the largest youth employers in the region!
