@JerryBarnett@Zeev81309559 Interesting. It's certainly possible.
Let's explore that idea.
What percentage of homes destroyed were booby trapped and/or used to fire rockets?
@Zeev81309559@DaunenJ So, in that time from 2005-2007, Palestine had full control over the borders, checkpoints, coastline, airspace, airwaves, food, water and medical supplies?
@JerryBarnett@Zeev81309559 Destruction of a nation is the intent
That doesn't require wiping them all out
It can be achieved through displacement
If you wanted to displace the people, you could start by destroying their homes, and creating conditions so unliveable that they no longer wanted to be there
Yes, there is armed conflict. We can all agree.
However, it's not war in the English language unless there's different countries, or different groups in the same country.
Unless you're willing to call Palestine a country, or assume that it's all part of Israel, war is not the word to use.
Try a different one
@maayanbar75@DaunenJ@Zeev81309559 Refugees?
Why are there so many refugees?
Why do you want them all to leave Gaza?
Why do they need to leave?
Is there some kind of plan to make Gaza part of Israel?
Are you assuming I don't know that Netanyahu funded Hamas directly, and then indirectly through Qatar?
I wonder how Qatar was able to deliver cash directly through the checkpoints with Israeli approval?
I wonder how Hamas was able to infiltrate the border when Israeli intelligence knew about the plans for over a year before it actually happened?
I wonder how there was no emergency or military response prepared for the event that was used to justify the destruction of Gaza?
Genocide is defined in the Oxford Dictionary.
You can check for yourself.
You'll find definitions for the rest of the words we're using in the dictionary, too
You won't find definitions for all the other words we're using in the Geneva Convention.
We're speaking English, not Geneva Conventionese.
@mblcta1@DaunenJ@Zeev81309559 Take it from the Oxford English Dictionary, where you'll find the agreed upon definitions of the language we're both speaking.
There is a genocide occurring
@mblcta1@DaunenJ@Zeev81309559 There's not a war going on unless it's between different countries or different groups within a country.
Is it a state of conflict between different countries, or different groups in the same country?
Refer back to the definition in the Oxford Dictionary
Have a large number of people been killed or persecuted?
Yes. Tens of Thousands killed. Millions displaced
Are those people from a particular national or ethnic group?
Yes. We'll call them Palestinians
Is there intent to destroy the nation or group?
Yes. Israel is actively trying to prove that these people never even existed. The head of State, Netanyahu even called the Palestinians "Amalek." What purpose does calling them "Amalek" serve?
@DaunenJ@Zeev81309559 Gaza was left under siege in 2005
Israel "withdrew" from inside Gaza, yes.
Sitting outside of a city, controlling the flow of resources in the hopes of inducing surrender is a siege.
It does not equate to "we left them alone and let them get on with their lives"
The definition of Genocide, in the language we're both speaking, requires the killing *OR* persecution of a large number of people from a particular group.
What percentage of Gaza is rubble?
If only 3% of Gaza was targeted, why is so much more of it rubble?
If I blew up your city so that you and your family had to live in tents, are you saying that is:
Not persecution?
