Steve Yzerman is out as Red Wings general manager after seven years without a playoff appearance.
Yzerman is being transitioned out of his role and will move to be senior advisor to Governor and CEO to owner Chris Ilitch.
“Clearly, we are not where we and our fans expect to be as an organization,” Ilitch said in a statement.
