First of all congratulations to Ryan Fox. An incredible way to finish and so happy for you, Anneke and the family and team.
This week has given me and my family moments and memories that will last forever. I am forever grateful for the support everyone has given me and the love that you all showed and I’m so proud of my hometown for @theopen that you delivered! What an honour and a privilege to have played in that atmosphere in front of you all, thank you! I hope we get to do it again!

Twelve years ago today, my flight lead and I were struck by lightning over the Gulf in F/A-18s. I had a little bit of a static shock on my face, but he was momentarily incapacitated, requiring me to help talk him down to an arrested landing at NAS JRB New Orleans.
While Fire/EMS (God Bless our second responders) were getting him out of the jet, I burned down fuel above the field, eventually landing about 45 minutes later. After I finished writing up the event, I was told by the Safety O that I had to report to base medical to get checked out as a precaution. It was Friday afternoon. I hoped it would be a quick in and out because I wanted to go home to beat New Orleans traffic.
I was wrong.
Instead, the tech brought me into a room and did an EKG. New to the sport, she totally botched it, saying, "Wait here," as she sprinted out the room. A few minutes later, the base cops and fire showed up.
"No, we can't let you just drive home, sir. We have to take you to the hospital right now in an ambulance."
It was raining, of course, soaking me as they struggled to get the stretcher into the ambulance. Before we left, they ran another EKG.
It was fine.
"Can I go home now?"
"No, that was just to determine whether we run lights and sirens or not."
I spent six hours in the ER. My treatment was a bag of saline, and aspirin, and a story about lightning hitting a tree in the doctor's back yard.
My flight lead spent a few days in the hospital, taking hyperbaric chamber rides to get back to normal. He eventually went back to flying.
Before the first 62 in a major, I’d asked Jack Nicklaus why there were so many 63s, but nothing better.
“Because I missed a 2-foot putt at Baltusrol to break it,” he said. “I choked.”
Now the question: Why hasn’t there been a 61? Lucas Herbert could answer in a similar way.
