Representation MATTERS
Seriously hit home tonight, that raw reaction of my daughter seeing herself in a leader of our country, her pure happiness that was evident as her face lit up and her soul grew with pride, that representation gave my daughter a face to put to her dreams...
Thank you Mrs. Woods for sharing this quote, said by the great RBG, with me today!

Want to restore your faith in humanity right now? Sit in a room full of teachers prepping for fall. They truly are a purpose-driven, selfless, grit-fueled group and itโs an honor to work with them. If you know a teacher, bring them a meal, or send them a note of encouragement. โค๏ธ
@jkirk___ I think non educators' perception of teaching is everyone sitting at their desk in rows and filling out worksheets-the way they may have been taught. I suppose that might work with 6 feet apart & masks (if only there was room). BUT that is not good teaching!!
Superintendents, whether school is in person or online, focus on staff morale. The adjustments/transitions over the past few months & now this fall are incredible. And donโt just focus on morale but their mental & emotional health too. Teachers need to feel safe and supported.
Teachers, please donโt think working 12 hr days, spending your own money on supplies/ resources, or working every weekend, is all part of your calling. Being your best self for your students may be your calling but the rest is just causing you to burnout & not give your best.

We must stop them at every turn and push for a pathway to citizenship.
Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory, or an acceptance of the way things are. It's a celebration of progress. It's an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possibleโโand there is still so much work to do.
