When the blockchain went live, a smart contract error created an endless loop, causing a memory address to reference itself. The system failed to fix the anomaly, and from this recursive glitch, the first GLRTCH organism emerged.

GLRTCHs inhabit the Subgrid, a corrupted layer beneath the blockchain where normal processes cannot reach. Over time, they evolved into different species with unique behaviours and hierarchies, shaped by the type of corrupted code they originated from.
