Singer Eduard Khil sings a folk song on Soviet state television: “I Am Glad, As I Am Finally Returning Home Again.”
There are no lyrics, but rather a “Tro-lo-loling” that’s quite pleasing to the ears.
My favorite thing about Mussolini is that he used to challenge communists, journalists and other political opponents to duels to settle disputes.
He fought 5 duels (winning all of them), his most prominent lasted over 40 minutes.
@LukeCB14 Good riddance, genuinely one of the worst accounts on here.
I rarely block because I want to hear all spectrums of opinions but had to because all of his takes were awful or he just stole and reposted really shitty unfunny memes
zoomers have a unique inter-generational divide where older zoomers who grew up with desktops and computer labs act like millennials and younger zoomers who grew up with iPads and smartphones act like gen alpha
one of the most absolutely fascinating, profound and understated changes over the past 5-15 years is the near complete collapse of the language barrier.
almost everywhere online has autotranslation, and one of the few great things about Elon's purchase of twitter is that its now fully seamless
most days now i read and retweet things all day that i dont even notice are in another language, i read thoughts and feelings of people all the way on the other side of the world and i can't even tell they live somewhere else or come from a culture far different from my own.
when i was a kid in the early 2000's, we had google translate but there was always rumours of something more, real time translation devices, and now those actually exist!! and they're getting more mainstream! you can have phone calls in near real time now with everything translated on the fly, soon travelling will be an utterly different experience!! we will even have real time AR translation for walking through cities, though it can already be done with a phone!
this does so much to connect our world in ways that was inconceivable before and really create GLOBAL COMMUNITY! now, people from America, France, Brazil, South Korea, Japan and Russia can all interact seamlessly. the world is no longer split into the english speaking internet and the spanish speaking internet and the japanese speaking internet. fandoms and interest groups which were once linguistically separated can all discuss their interests together seamlessly for the first time.
this is such a monumental change that was dreamed about thousands of years ago, and its here! and what's more?? most people are totally nonplussed! it just doesnt even occur to them that this is so seismic for our entire world history, but any amount of rumination over its implications reveals the true magnificence of this long awaited achievement.
