@f5uii@HamtraxRadio Haha initially I was concerned it was becoming a junk drawer, but after recent uses, I think it’s actually quite well designed and is addressing many longstanding needs and wants within the Flex ecosystem without needing a dozen separate complementary apps.
Had the chance to test the lasted AetherSDR release a bit more this past weekend with my Flex 8600.
Super impressed with how far this software has came in the past few weeks. From a scrappy project to one of the best pieces of software in ham radio.
Got to put Arkansas on the map against this weekend in the Arkansas QSO Party as bonus station WR5P.
I wish conditions were better Saturday—they were miserable—but still had a lot of fun.

The new AetherAudio/PooDoo audio panel is sick. For someone that enjoys tinkering with these things, having a full suite of classic EQ, compression, etc. tools right in the software is a ton of fun. I need to spend more time with it, but it’s clear you can add some serious punch.
The time has come for a new PC in the shack. Been working on assembly the past couple evenings and now have moved to software installation and config.
Got the new Flex Radio SmartSDR 4.2.18 installed last night and running. Still some work to do on logging integration and WSJT-X… but getting close to done!
This thing is an absolute BEAST.
@KC0JH@VE5REV I had the 7300 MKI and currently have the 710. I’m sure the 7300 MKII is a little better, but I’d still go for the 710 all day—it’s a fantastic portable rig.
The SDR-IQ and Spectravue were an ever-present component of my shack for many years, serving as a panoramic adapter for my FT-2000 and then FTdx-5000.
I’ve since moved to the Flex environment, but frankly, the display quality on the old setup in terms of resolution of visual signals was superior.
@N3QEH I think people should mostly do what they want. But I’ve also found having a more focused account (like this ham radio one), grows more quickly as people can know what to expect. I have another more random account and it has barely any followers.
In an era where the multitudes of consumer tech is an unintentional RFI radiator, we need this more than ever. Glad these noise reduction solutions are coming to maturity.
Testing out AetherSDR 0.7.7 for Windows with my Flex 8600. An IMPRESSIVELY complete SDR suite given it's very recent and rapid development. NR2 is notably nice.
