People always say athletes should reach out for help, but when I did, I was judged and shamed by the coaching staff instead, scholarship cut without notice!
5’9 D’Angelo Ponds is one of the best corners I’ve watched all year.
Somewhere there’s a DB coach sick right now because his coordinator wouldn’t let him pull the trigger on him and forced the “safe” 6’2 corner who has no hips but he gotta get him right.
My name is Matthew Horne, and I’m a safety with one year of eligibility remaining (and a potential second year if needed). I wanted to introduce myself and let you know what kind of player I am.
I’m a gritty, downhill safety who thrives in the box but has the versatility to play deep and cover ground when needed. I pride myself on being physical at the point of attack, diagnosing plays quickly, and setting the tone early with my presence. I study film, call out plays pre-snap, and let my pads speak for themselves. Whether it’s stacking and shedding or knifing through gaps, I bring that enforcer mentality every snap.
I’d love the opportunity to contribute to your program and bring that edge to your defense. Let me know if you’d be open to a conversation—I’d be excited to share more about what I bring to the table.
Thank you for your time,
Matthew Horne
