Good Friday Morning, Nine Mile & Spokane!
🌤️🌡️ We have some clouds obscuring the sun this morning and we will see that off and on today. It won’t keep the high from reaching the mid to upper 80s, however.
💨 We will see SW winds this morning, flipping around to the NW by late morning-early afternoon, with some variation at times and 5-10mph.
🌡️ Tonight’s’ low temperature with range between 50-54°.
👀 Look Ahead and Smoke Forecast 👀
📅 Look Ahead 📅 - Saturday, we will see SW winds 10-15mph in the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Sunday the winds will calm to 5-10mph, but again in the mid to upper 80s. Start of next week still looks warm with highs in the 90s possible Tuesday-Thursday. We also will see a dry frontal passage on Thursday —-> at this time, winds DO NOT look look as menacing as this past Tuesday, but our high is expected to be in the 90s on Thursday and drop to the low 80s on Friday. I will keep an eye on developments throughout the week.
🔥Smoke Forecast🔥 - We have a few large fires around the state, but one that could impact the hazy/smokiness of the sky depending on wind direction in the near term - The Kartar Fire in Okanogan County. Winds today will not be strong enough to bring smoky/hazy skies into the Spokane area, but wind is expected for tomorrow, especially in Central WA, where a Fire Weather Watch (may be upgraded to a Red Flag Warning today) has been issued from late morning through 11pm. SW winds there will be quite gusty and has the potential to bring in mid-upper level haze; perhaps smoke to the lower levels of the atmosphere depending on if the fire expands. Those winds are expected to relax on Sunday and our atmosphere should clear out, as well.
👏🏻 Have a great Friday - I will be back with any updates and if there are none today, I will talk to you all tomorrow!

June 17, 2026:
Severe weather expected for the Midwest again today with strong tornadoes possible into Illinois and Indiana.
We had a cluster of thunderstorms moved through Iowa into Illinois this morning early this afternoon, but the sun is expected to return and with a Southwest low level jet, that’s going to help enhance the severe weather potential this afternoon and evening.
Let’s take a look…
#weather #severeweather #tornadowatch
Potentially life-threatening flash floodingand urban flooding are likely through Friday across southern Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, southwestern Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle, with possible flooding near the Upper Texas coast. Ongoing heavy rainfall could prolong the flood threat into the weekend.
Tropical-storm-force winds are expected along the Upper Texas and Louisiana coasts today (17 June) from High Island to Morgan City where a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect.
Minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected along portions of the Upper Texas and Louisiana coastlines today.
June 17, 2026:
More severe weather expected today in the Midwest -
An outbreak of severe thunderstorms is expected today into tonight, with the peak threat centered over Illinois and Indiana. Several intense tornadoes, swaths of damaging gusts over 75 mph and damaging wind-driven large hail will all be possible.
🚨Good Morning, Nine Mile & Spokane!🚨
🚩🔥 We had quite a day yesterday - 7 fires started around Eastern WA during the peak winds, and fires that had started over the weekend grew, one being near 25,000 acres in South Central WA. The Upriver Fire that was reported around 12:30pm yesterday, grew quickly and threatened many homes. They went after it hard because so many residences are close by, and as of the last overnight update, sits at 222 acres per Watch Duty. I am sure another update is forthcoming.
☀️🌡️ Our Wednesday will be much calmer wind-wise, and our temperatures will go down a little bit.
☀️🌡️ High today is expected to be in the 79-84° range by this afternoon with mostly sunny skies, but haze around from the fires. Hopefully it will not degrade the AQI.
💨 Winds will be 5-10mph out of the SW-W mainly, but they will be variable at times. This is the time of year where wind direction becomes more relevant and helpful concerning the potential direction of smoke or fire propagation.
🌡️ Tonight’s low temperatures will range between 48-53°.
👀 Look Ahead 👀 - We will be mainly in the 80s for highs, with perhaps 90s entering the picture again early next week (Mon & Tues) for a couple days. I am still seeing a dry pattern in place, but will continue to monitor for any hints at rain coming.
Have a good Wednesday, everyone. I will be back with any updates!

🚨Good Morning Nine Mile & Spokane!🚨
🌡️☀️ We are in the mid to upper 50s this morning with clear skies, as we ended up hitting the 90° + mark yesterday. I think I mentioned in my weather video, or another forecast, that hitting 90° yesterday would be the first time this year —- we actually hit 90° once already back on May 28th; the day it was also humid, just before the complex of severe storms moved through that evening.
🚩🌡️💨 ☀️ At any rate, for our Tuesday, as has been well advertised, the NWS issued a Red Flag Warning and a Wind Advisory from the Spokane County side, South and West; although, we are expected to experience gusty winds to 20mph, perhaps 25mph, for those of you open to SW-W winds on the North Side of the lake, as well. The higher gusts are expected to occur from late morning to mid-late afternoon today.
☀️🌡️ High today in the mid to upper 80s with mostly sunny skies; some of us may hit 90° again.
🌡️ Low temperatures tonight will be right around 50° to the low 50s.
👀 Look Ahead 👀 - We will fall back to the low 80s for our Wednesday, but temperatures will start to rise again for Thursday and beyond - Summer begins officially on Sunday and Summertime temps are right on Queue! We will have a few systems that may bring showers to mountains in far Northeast WA / North ID, but I don’t see rain in our forecast for many days. If that changes, I will of course make it known.
👏🏻 Have a fantastic Tuesday, everyone. I’ll be back with any changes!

The front and severe weather causing shortwave that has been moving East from the Midwest has finally cleared the East Coast and has provided a much needed respite from the humidity and instability. What is on tap for this week as far as dew points and severe weather are concerned??
East Coast & OH Valley - You will have dew points in the 40s and 50s today and Tuesday, but dew points will start to trend upward on Wednesday with severe weather chances going up for Ohio on Thursday.
Great Lakes down towards Missouri Valley - Enjoy today, as dew points start to climb again tomorrow, including a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Tuesday.
Mississippi Valley - Dew points start to climb again on Tuesday with severe weather chances heading up for Wednesday as a shortwave will make its way across to mix things up.
