KADSAMHSA, partnering with @kdsphcb, held a stakeholder engagement on strengthening mental health services within primary healthcare across Kaduna State. Supported by @fnph_kaduna, @kadchma & @KadunaMOH
Health Secretaries, Facility Managers, Medical Officers, and key stakeholders from all 23 LGAs explored practical ways to improve screening, referrals, and service delivery.
This month, and every month, we encourage men to prioritize their mental wellbeing, seek support when needed, and support one another without judgment or stigma.
Strong men ask for help. Strong communities make it possible.

Research consistently shows that men are less likely to access mental health services, despite experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and other mental health concerns.
We encourage men and boys to prioritize their mental wellbeing, speak up, seek support when needed, and support one another without stigma.

Early intervention matters. Seeking help early can make a significant difference.
Kaduna State also has 23 PHC Centres of Excellence providing care for Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis, Epilepsy, and Substance Use Disorders.
Mental health support in Kaduna State is now closer to communities.
Services are available at PHCs, where individuals can access screening, basic counseling, psychoeducation, and early support before conditions become severe.

The Strong Families Programme is an evidence-based intervention focused on improving parenting, strengthening family communication, and building resilience in children and adolescents.
Participants from Kd North, Kd South, Chikun, and Igabi were trained for programme delivery.
