Ahead of #COP17, the discussion served as a reminder that biodiversity is not a peripheral environmental issue, but a foundation for sustainable development, human well-being, and climate resilience. Moving from ambition to action will require sustained and coherent commitments.
On May 22, in observance of the International Day for Biological Diversity, the KAS NY Office, in partnership with @ArmeniaUN, convened a breakfast roundtable, “From Ambition to Action: Strengthening Biodiversity Governance and Financing.”
#KASonline#multilateralism
The roundtable explored the governance and financing barriers that continue to slow #biodiversity action, including the need to improve coordination across frameworks, close implementation gaps, and better align public and private financial flows with nature-positive outcomes.
Discussion touched on recent developments in BiH and their broader implications for the country’s & regional security, #EU integration, and #internationallaw
Together with @HSF_USA, @kas_ny was honored to host High Representative for #BiH Christian Schmidt @OHR_BiH on May 11 for a high-level discussion with New York’s diplomatic & expert community
On #WPFD, we are pleased to feature insights from our KAS colleagues Fabian Wagener & Hendrik Sittig on the evolving challenges to press freedom in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa in our #UNAgoraBlog. https://t.co/mMgHzvgn2E

Global #counterterrorism is becoming more fragmented, politicized, and shaped by emerging technologies. While cooperation persists, approaches remain uneven and focused on containment over root causes. A key takeaway: the system is at a crossroads and must adapt. #KAS4Security

On #WorldWaterDay, Dr. Alvario Lario (@IFADPresident), President of @IFAD and Chair of @UN_Water, articulates the broader governance implications of water cooperation & underscores why water is now a crucial indicator of effective #multilateralism. 🇺🇳

Without stronger collaboration among middle powers, global AI development risks becoming concentrated among a small number of technological superpowers. Strengthening cooperation among these regions can help promote shared priorities & more balanced global digital ecosystems.
On March 5, @kas_ny, together with @infoCEPEI and @CCACANADA, convened #AI and digital policy experts for a hybrid workshop on: “Advancing Transregional Partnerships in Challenging Times: Multilateral Cooperation between LAC, Europe & Canada on AI Governance.”

On February 27, Thomas Tödtling, Executive Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) New York Office, was invited to speak at the high-level panel “Pathways for Just Energy Transitions in the Global South” hosted by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN. #onlinekas
How can the Global South deliver a just, affordable & secure energy transition?
At @UN HQ, PMI convened leaders & experts to share lessons from India, Brazil, Indonesia, Viet Nam & South Africa on navigating the energy trilemma — security, equity & sustainability, besides hearing from the UN system on its role in this critical area and from development partners on their lessons learnt and initiatives to support the Global South.
Participants not only focused on what is needed to be done for just energy transition but also highlighted how it can be achieved. The big takeaway was the urgent need to mobilise financing for energy transition, particularly on the African continent.
Interventions from 🇨🇴 🇪🇹 🇲🇦 🇷🇺 🇫🇷 🇸🇱 added to the timely and lively discussion.
