Ottawa Municipal Elections - community updates vs. incumbent advantages - a better solution is needed #OTTpoli #Ottawa

[KanataBeaverbrook @KBeaverbrook]

It's our understanding that municipal Councillors who are seeking re-election are not allowed to communicate through official channels to Ward constituents from Aug 24 to post-election (Oct 24). /1

[KanataBeaverbrook @KBeaverbrook]

On the other hand, the City Electoral Process needs to find an answer to cutting off community information flow for 2+ months.

[KanataBeaverbrook @KBeaverbrook]

While I applaud keeping the community up to date, the information being communicated is still information that only an incumbent councillor will have easy access to.

On the principle of a level election playing field, their tweets should stop. /4
