@htmlinacell@urmyalibidude And this assumes that his very much the opposite of his entire career defense doesn't normalize and that he doesn't decline as he approaches 36 and become less valuable, which he obviously projects to
OPS+ of players on the 2024 Mets that are now on different teams:
Alonso: 113
McNeil: 67
Nimmo: 115
Bader: 57
Marte: 89
JD: Retired
Iglesias: N/A
Winker: N/A
Nido: N/A
Acuna: 26
Imagine the team we could have with no Juan Soto and all of these world beaters!
@htmlinacell@urmyalibidude Where are the good guys?!? You can fault Stearns for adding people not performing but everyone off that team is having a below average to terrible year or are out of major league baseball altogether, this includes Nimmo and Alonso.
@htmlinacell@urmyalibidude What is he implying other than he took the 2024 roster and changed it and now it's worse, advocating for keeping the 2024 roster together. Now you're just being intentionally obtuse.
@htmlinacell@urmyalibidude 2.1 fWAR is a mediocre player and he is a 30 something year old declining firstbase man with a lower OPS this year, do you think he's going to improve as he gets to his mid 30s with his already poor glove and athleticism? And that's Vientos who's awful, Jared Young isn't
@htmlinacell@urmyalibidude They were also 17th in runs through this point so it didn't exactly translate to wins. And great, I was wrong on that. Doesn't change the context of my larger point that bringing back the 2024 band would result in an even worse team, many can't even make a roster now
@htmlinacell@urmyalibidude They were middle of the pack up until this point of the season and greatly buoyed by Vientos and Iglesias coming up in the second half and Lindor going on a runner-up MVP pace. Y'all are talking about Alonso as if 2024 isn't his worst offensive season, his OPS started with a 7.
@htmlinacell They figured that whatever the new boundaries are will be incorporated over time and that Semien in the next 2 years will be a more valuable player than Nimmo in 3/4 years. That's their calculation.
@htmlinacell Nimmo got off to a great start and has been bad since, he also has multiple debilitating injuries that aren't going away as he ages. He's probably a DH within the next couple years and doesn't have the bat for it anymore. Judge the next 5 seasons off 2 months of the 1st year π€·π»ββοΈ
@htmlinacell They are anticipating the monetary boundaries changing this off-season and that they won't be able to carry such a large payroll in the foreseeable future
