Willow’s promos are just so authentic, man. Authenticity that you rarely find in professional wrestling today. What a fucking FANTASTIC!!! promo. The entire promo felt like there was no script, like this wasn’t just a pro wrestling show, it was real. From the moment she stepped in the ring she was overwhelmed with emotions, which means so was I.

The “Mom” chants, the “Warrior Princess” chants, the “you deserve it” chants. It was just beautiful, the crowd is HERS and they are behind her on every level. The speech she gave was incredible. Signing the contract on Mercedes’ chest without hesitation was incredible. Mercedes attempted to rain on her parade, and Willow immediately reminded her who she was, and what she’s accomplished. THAT IS HOW YOU PRESENT YOUR WORLD FUCKING CHAMPION.

The story that they’re telling about their history, about how Willow has consistently been the one force that Mercedes can’t avoid. Mercedes with a phenomenal heel promo, belittling all of Willow’s accomplishments to products of her own narcissistic views. The Brawling Birds making the save against the Divine Dominion, simultaneously building both matches??

What a character Willow Nightingale is. Gun to the back of my head I cannot name many people in wrestling today who I’d rather have as the absolute babyface ace of my promotion. She deserves the ball, she deserves to hold the ball and ballhog it until she retires. I’m sorry for the yap, what a fucking amazing segment. Might be my favorite promo from AEW all year, and my favorite Mercedes promo yet. Just wow.
