Ababu Namwamba might have been the best Sports CS we have had under this regime.

There was something about how quickly he moved to address certain football issues, particularly those involving management wrangles. He was hands-on and seemed willing to get into the trenches when the situation demanded it.

He was also instrumental in Kenya’s AFCON 2027 bid and had spoken about Nairobi’s ambition to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships long before the formal bid was eventually submitted.

Looking back, perhaps we did not appreciate his time in the Sports docket enough.
