Japan has reportedly offered local production of the Mogami-class stealth frigate in India, including design sharing and shipyard support under the Make in India initiative.

The advanced warship features stealth technology, multi-role combat capabilities, AI-driven automation, and operates with a crew of around 90, significantly reducing manpower requirements.

If finalized, the deal would mark one of the largest India–Japan defence-industrial partnerships, boosting technology transfer, indigenous shipbuilding, and Indo-Pacific maritime security cooperation.

A team from Meta meets Ministry of Electronics and IT (@GoI_MeitY) officials following the notice summoning them on the issue of roll-out of the “usernames” feature on WhatsApp in India.

The Ministry officials sensitised them about the government's concern relating to the feature. Sources added that as the timeline for furnishing the detailed explanation on the “usernames” feature is for three days, Meta will submit their final reply as per the schedule.

The Singapore-flagged container vessel WAN HAI 503 suffered a major fire while transiting the Arabian Sea, prompting immediate activation of the emergency response mechanism. Distress alerts were transmitted, search and rescue and salvage operations were mobilised in parallel, and all 18 crew members were successfully rescued.
The Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, the Directorate, and Port and State Authorities coordinated seamlessly, while salvors undertook fire-fighting and containment measures to mitigate further damage.
