In celebration of the 2024 International Day of Peace, the Kaduna State Peace Commission in collaboration with Partners West Africa Nigeria, are marking the symbolic day with the unveiling of three significant strategic policy documents. These documents are set to play a critical role in shaping peacebuilding efforts in Kaduna State:

1. The Kaduna State Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security (2024-2027)
2. The Kaduna State Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (2024-2027)
3. The Strategic Plan of the Kaduna State Peace Commission (The Kaduna State Pathway to Sustainable Peace and Social Harmony)

The event took place at Kaduna State University and attracted a diverse audience, including government officials, civil society organizations, youth groups, and peace advocates. With this year’s theme, “Strengthening the Culture and Values of Peaceful Coexistence in Kaduna State,” the event emphasized the importance of collective action in promoting lasting peace in the state.

Key highlights of the event included speeches from the Governor of Kaduna State and other senior government officials, who reiterated their commitment to fostering peace and security in the state. Keynote addresses from esteemed peacebuilding experts further set the stage for discussions on the role of policy frameworks in conflict prevention and resolution.

The unveiled policies are designed to provide durable and effective platforms for promoting peace across all sectors of society. They aim to foster continuous consultations, interfaith dialogues, and the application of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, ensuring that every community in Kaduna State has access to peaceful solutions to conflicts.

This event not only marked the 2024 International Day of Peace but also served as a milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to build a peaceful and harmonious society.
