#BREAKINGNEWS Australia has just given preliminary approval to extend the life of the North West Shelf, the country's biggest and oldest liquefied natural gas plant for decades. It is set to generate billions, but also raises serious questions about Australia's climate agenda.
North West Shelf is one of the nation’s biggest polluters, and emissions over a 50-year period — including from the burning of its gas abroad — are estimated to be about 10 times Australia’s current annual total.
