There is a guy we were with at TUK but he studied Civil Engineering. During campus he tried hustling in the city in businesses, but nothing worked out. 2yrs ago he asked me for advice coz everything had fallen apart and I told him the best thing was to go back home, relax and think about his next move because the small money we used to assist him cannot sustain the pressure of city life.
Yesterday while I was in Mutalia along Kagundo Road, I coincidentally met him supplying onions. He told me he went home, relaxed for some months, started planting onions and later looked for places where there is demand. That’s how he slowly started getting back on his feet. I was really happy for him.
RIP @chucknorris. In 1990 he founded Chun Kuk Do, which included these principles to live by:
1. I will develop myself to the maximum of my potential in all ways.
2. I will forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements.
3. I will continually work at developing love, happiness and loyalty in my family.
4. I will look for the good in all people and make them feel worthwhile.
5. If I have nothing good to say about a person, I will say nothing.
6. I will always be as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
7. I will maintain an attitude of open-mindedness.
8. I will maintain respect for those in authority and demonstrate this respect at all times.
9. I will always remain loyal to my God, my country, family and my friends.
10. I will remain highly goal-oriented throughout my life because that positive attitude helps my family, my country and myself.
Marriage (or any positive romantic relationship) is sustained by grace, not emotional thrill. It is this grace that births patience and positive communication. You can have everything but if you don't have grace, you do not belong to the institution.
I would define grace here as the "internalised belief that your partner - the person you vetted and chose to be with - would not maliciously subject you to harm".
This is not to say that they won't do you wrong. But that this wrong will never be intentionally malicious in its manifestation. I should be able to trust that you mean me no harm, even in the errors that you make.
Only then can we focus on the problem, and not you vs me.
Unfortunately, the problem many make is in defining their grace through the partners. That it is the responsibility of the partner to make them gracious. Or trusting. But truth is, this disposition should exist long before the partner comes along.
This thing of he or she brings it out of me is a lazy attempt at delegation of duty. You should be those things before the partner arrives. The partner should complement what already exists, and has been trained for years. Otherwise, you will be postponing the inevitable. You are either gracious or not, and it will manifest overtime in how you treat and engage your partner.
The initial rays of romance tends to conceal a lot, but who you inherently are will inform the direction of the relationship. It will always prevail. So before you were treating your man right, how were you treating the gate man? Before you were kind to your wife, how were you addressing your mother?
Great minds, bigger vision.

You cannot negotiate friendship, barter for love, or buy a sense of purpose. Anything meaningful in life is done unconditionally—that is, it’s done for its own sake.
“Greatness does not come out of intelligence, it comes from character.
Character is not formed out of smart people: it is formed out of people who have suffered.”

When struggling to attain goal, some will be attached to you for their liberation. If you fail they fail. BE FOCUSED. Determination and zeal will yield result. If you feel like giving up think of those who will sink with you.

My honest opinion is one should not attach to another when they are in rock bottom because they are liable to be swallowed in the other's dream looking for a saving raft, which only lengthens their affliction because all their meager resources will be channeled towards servicing the other's dream, trying to prove that they are capable, and in the hope that the actualisation of the other's dream will translate to an actualisation of their dream. Which - unfortunately - is seldom the case.
