LB1050 gave plenty of time for the interim study and still let the state move forward. AM3052 did not impose an immediate hard retention policy. It was a flexible framework with parent override. Walking away from screening, intervention, and accountability was the wrong call.
How much longer do you expect kids to wait?
@MW_Royers@BlakeAspenNE@Baseball77Dad5@NebraskaMegan@George4NE That isn’t accurate, it. wasn’t for a new screener. It was for DIBELS 8 so the state had consistent data and could deploy resources where needed. Dyslexia screening isn’t about burdening schools, it’s about relieving the burden for families looking for answers.
READING THEM IN: Nebraska lawmakers are taking another shot Wednesday at a bill urging schools to offer more help to struggling readers. They're doing so at the prodding of a persistent local mother of a teen with dyslexia.

@alexanderrusso Gets worse. Our schools use a digital hall pass system on the kids chrome books for everything. Bathroom, nurse, admin. All data all in one place. Permission runs through security. Kids end up getting sick in the hallways waiting for permission to run to the restroom.
@KJWinEducation “dawn…don’t. here….have” watching that in the trailer was so familiar. Why can’t we move the needle on something that isn’t uncommon? Things have to change!
Inspiring. To educators criticized for working on "boring" skills. Unapologetically master the basics and help unleash people's genius.
Mastery produces confidence, unleashes creativity, and fights the naysaying voices surrounding them.
That's why they love the athletic coaches
@KJWinEducation No chance anyone “owns” anything. How many admin would be redundant if districts just stuck to what works instead of constantly “piloting” the latest and greatest?
