Problems Reported in 18 Provinces After Election, The Momentum Finds

Irregularities were reported in at least 18 provinces following the February 8, 2026 election, according to data compiled by The Momentum, an online news agency, raising widespread concerns over vote counting and transparency in the Election Commission’s (EC) handling of the polls.

Based on complaints and reported cases, The Momentum identified the following problems across the 18 provinces:

- Discrepancies in vote counts in 7 provinces
- Ballot discrepancies, where the number of ballots did not match voter turnout, in 7 provinces
- An unusually high number of invalid ballots in 4 provinces
- Transparency and procedural issues in vote counting in 4 provinces
- System failures in 1 province
- Power outages during vote counting in 1 province
- Errors in pre-filled constituency numbers on ballot envelopes in 1 province

The findings emerged just 48 hours after the election, as public complaints mounted over suspected irregularities at polling stations nationwide, spanning all regions of the country. The issues have prompted calls for recounts from both voters and parliamentary candidates.

The growing distrust has fueled concerns that delays in certifying election results could slow the formation of a new government.

People’s Party Leader Responds After NACC Finds Grounds in Case Against 44 Former MPs

People’s Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut said the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s decision to find grounds against 44 former Move Forward Party MPs over their joint proposal to amend the lèse-majesté law was part of the legal process, while maintaining that the case against him was limited in scope.

Speaking at party headquarters, Natthaphong, one of the 44 named in the case, said the NACC file against him contained only one alleged act — his signing of the proposal. He said that, considered on its merits, his personal legal risk was among the lowest compared with others named, but warned that any legal action perceived as unfair could raise questions about ulterior motives.

Natthaphong said the party’s legal team, led by deputy leader Dr Wayo Assawarungruang, would provide further details on the next legal steps following the NACC’s referral of the case to the Supreme Court.

He added that he believed the case was politically motivated, while urging independent agencies to carry out their duties impartially and without being used as tools in political conflicts.

Tourist Speedboat Collides with Fishing Boat Near Phi Phi, All 55 Rescued

A speedboat carrying tourists collided with a fishing vessel in the Andaman Sea near Phi Phi Island, Krabi province, on Sunday morning, prompting an emergency rescue operation. All 55 people on board the speedboat were safely brought ashore.

The Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center, Region 3, said it received a report of the collision at about 9:10 a.m. The speedboat, operated by A Timer Co., was carrying 50 tourists, two tour guides and three crew members when it struck a fishing boat near the island.

Some passengers sustained injuries and required medical attention, authorities said.

Rescue teams were immediately dispatched, with two vessels sent to the scene and local maritime and port security agencies coordinating the operation. All passengers were later transported safely to Phi Phi Island, where medical teams were on standby to treat the injured.
