@kausmickey Mail-in (in my case I walk our ballots to a local drop box) is great because it's much easier to research the things on the ballot because you have the actual ballot for a while.
@asher_971 I prefer they build even if more expensive. The problem of too little built housing is worse than the problem of built housing being too expensive. I see the best solution as building stuff that wouldn't otherwise be built, not acquiring existing properties.
@the_transit_guy I'm not understanding all the mentions of Seattle in this at all. Sure, it rains and the winter days are really short, but worst in the world as far as being hampered by that?
@davidfrum I think the causal link is weak. They closed the Roastery which should have been minting money based on its popularity before she was even elected. They closed the best store in my neighborhood (Capitol Hill, Denny Way) when the pandemic ended.
@loganb Fascinating! I've been wondering what the ultimate cause of 15th&John Safeway locking it up was. Other than liquor, it's the only thing they lock up.
@loganb@jesseproudman I want public toilets, not so I can use them, but so that I don't have to deal with the smells/sidewalk droppings. Making it necessary to have a phone or keep track of a card seems like it addresses the least worst parts of the problem. We'll see, I guess...
@jbarro@CartoonsHateHer I suspect it may be more an acknowledgement that they hit the historical sweet spot, and that sweet spot was the Pax Americana. That of course assumes that the future will suck, which I don't think is the case. I'm a techno-optimist but that is out of vogue among my people.
