Collaborating for an inclusive democracy.
Today, the Office of the Government Spokesperson partnered with @KAS_Kenya Kenya to host a high-level PWD Breakfast Forum at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE). The forum focused on enhancing political inclusion and democratic participation for Persons with Disabilities.
During the event, KISE Director Dr. Norman Kiogora welcomed the Guest of Honour, Government Spokesperson Hon. Isaac Mwaura, CBS.
Dr. Kiogora commended the governmentβs intentional steps toward inclusivity and reminded attendees that fostering inclusion remains a shared responsibility across all sectors.
In his keynote address, Hon. Mwaura underscored Kenyaβs role as a leader in disability advocacy. He challenged stakeholders by noting that now that PWDs are being represented, the conversation must evolve from mere quantitative presence to meaningful, qualitative representation. He lauded KISEβs proactive initiatives under Dr. Kiogora's leadership, particularly the establishment of the upcoming Assistive Devices Factory, while urging leaders to expand these inclusion frameworks to rural areas to tackle deep-rooted inequalities. The forum featured insights from various institutional panelists, including the IEBC, who detailed how the commission leverages data captured in KIEMS kits to enhance voting accessibility for PWDs.#DisabilityInclusion #GoodGovernance #SocialImpact #PolicyAndDemocracy #Kenya
