@drumm_colin Theres a difference in the sense that the left here won’t rescind their intellectual standards, make of them what you will. the right knows that. It’s a component of British left identity. The tension here is more so between an effete liberal class and far right media -most media

@drumm_colin I think part of the fallout on the left on this - which I appreciate you may not be privy to being in the US and outside UK academia - is precisely over this problem, which is a problem because many (arguably, most) actually do pride themselves on their standards

@drumm_colin They instead propose that intellectual standards are not required *because* ‘common sense’ prevails. Stuart Hall remains correct on this. Which is why a comprehension of the far right and its discourse, and the racial regimes that sponsor it, is important in this context
