UPDATE: after 565 days of fighting, Darryl and Kierra Buchanan finally have their children back home.

The Buchanans were wrongfully accused of abuse and had their children seized, even though the injuries were caused by a genetic condition.

@YATPOfficial got involved, you helped us demand that DCF give them back to their parents, and they did.

@PeggiBosquez Question for you. I saw in comments you smoke your pork belly rather than cure; you jave any knowledge on celery powder as an alternative to curing salts? If so, how does it affect the flavor, if at all? I am sitting on a huge slab of pork belly.

We bought our house in the early 90's. We put 1500 down to secure the lot and start building. Then had to save another 6000 while it was being built for the down payment and closing costs. We pinched every penny. We ate hot dogs and bologna sandwiches and scrambled eggs for dinner. We bought nothing new. We sold our second car. We did without and our kids cried about it. We stayed on course. The day of our closing on the house was also the last day to resign our lease and our closing time was at the end of the day. We were not even sure we had the house and we were losing the apartment. We rented a UHaul and packed everything in it and drove to closing with 3 tired kids and a dog. If we didn't get the house we would have to go to a hotel for the night. Thankfully, we got the house and they gave us 1200 back. We saw a used appliance store on our way to the new house and we went in and bought a used refrigerator and added it to the UHaul. We were so glad because we were planning on using an ice chest until we could afford a fridge. It was a hard year of sacrifices and doing without and I great real tired of the younger generation thinking we all had it so easy. I still live in the house and I still appreciate it. We paid it off and I hope to live out my life here. It was hard and it was worth it. Sometimes you have to make it happen. We did because there was no other way.
