Some people think Medvedev is quite the good tactician, but I'm not sure standing 15 feet back to return Bonzi's 90 mph first serves was the right move. Fed, Nole, even Murray would have stepped up and crushed those.
I'll tell ya, there would be some players that would go after Medvedev in the interview while he was sitting there. Bonzi handled that interview as well as you could expect, really.
I haven't really watched a full Medvedev match in many months, and if this is how he's been playing, it's no wonder he's fallen so far down the rankings. Bonzi's a fine player but not good enough to hang with good Daniil.
Casual tennis fans that don't understand the rules of the game have to be the worst. I get it, there are a lot of weird rare things that happen in tennis. But the umpire isn't always at fault, even Allendsworth.
@108InThe5th Sorry, my bad. Medvedev got me real fired up. Zero respect for the clown. He certainly wouldn't have done that if he were awarded the first serve up match point.
Anyone who thinks Bonzi shouldn't have been awarded a first serve after the delay doesn't know tennis. Even at club level we award first serves when there are delays like balls coming from other courts.
@TheTennisLetter The umpire made the right call. Unreasonable time between first and second serves because of outside interference. Even the commentators acknowledged it was the right call.
