It’s going to be a 🌧️ picket line today so it’s time for the placard umbrella. Let’s not forget the current pay “offer” is still a pay cut (which we previously rejected) #ucuRising#ucustrikes@CardiffUCU#nocapitulation
Academics - imagine where you’d be without professional services staff. They are with us on the picket lines because they too are experiencing unmanageable workloads & unfair pay #NotJustLecturers#UCURising
A Valentines Day reminder that over 90,000 staff in the HE sector are on precarious and insecure contacts.
This is why we strike.
Vote. Strike. Win.

I really don't enjoy striking. I'd much rather get on with my research, teaching, and tasks that are piling up. BUT I'm striking today because I want better for colleagues on precarious contracts, protection for our pensions, fair workloads, and fair pay. Please resolve this! 🙏
From today, university staff begin their 7th, 8th and 9th day of strike action
They aren't just fighting for decent pay, conditions and pensions but to save higher education
Support them, stand with them.

If you work in a UK university but are not yet a member of the @ucu, please take a few minutes today to consider joining us
Unions (and strikes) are the only reason our working conditions have not deteriorated further and will only improve if we are united

UCU strikes start again tomorrow. For anyone thinking lecturers enjoy this, let me just say that we don't. We would much prefer being at work (getting paid), teaching students and doing our research. Both my meetings today were moaning about the impact of the strikes on 1/3
After pickets on Thursday, a "Where does the money go?" walking tour to talk about buildings, cash, debt and pay cuts. Meet Main Gate at 11.30. All welcome!
You simply don't bother to strike if you don't like your job.
We're striking because we love our jobs but the working conditions right now aren't sustainable.
