โWhen I first heard that I would be playing Kabo in Wandance, honestly, more than happiness, the shock came first. I couldn't believe it so much that for several days I found myself wondering, "Could this really be real?"
However, as I continued reading the original work, I noticed that Kabo and I have many things in common. I became completely immersed in the world of the story, and I felt as though I began to see, little by little, the meaning of me playing Kabo.
For filming, I approached it after piling up a great amount of preparation for both acting and dancing. Especially regarding dance, I deeply studied Kabo's dance style. While overlapping Kabo's feelings with my own way of dancing, the feelings I have when I dance, and the question of "Why do I dance?", I carefully built up the character little by little.
Temporarily leaving the group and taking on such a full-fledged solo activity is something I have never done before since debuting. It was a continuous series of anxiety and nervousness because I had to see everything through by myself. However, with the sole desire of delivering a good work to everyone who will watch the film and to all the fans, I devoted myself to extensive research and practice.
Through that process, I feel that both my dancing and my heart have grown greatly. Of course, I want everyone to enjoy the dance and music, but I would also be happy if you could watch Kabo's figure as he meets people through dance and continues to grow while struggling and facing conflicts, and witness that journey in the theater.โ
