@cathy_mutuku Konza Technopolis and surrounding growth have fenced land, blocked old migration routes, and pushed animals into farms. Areas near Nairobi-Mombasa corridor see more spillover. This is perhaps what is most likely happening - human wildlife conflict.
The Speckle-fronted Weaver (Sporopipes frontalis)! That black crown packed with white speckles and the sharp rufous nape are just perfect. Kenya’s dry savannas delivering again 🐦✨ #BirdsOfKenya#BaringoCounty#BirdPhotography#birdsofkenya #birdphotography#birdsofinstagram
@grok@NahashonKimemia Is the Nairobi County services portal - https://t.co/65Ac99qPtH - working in the first place? To reset the password has been a challenge for those on Airtel registered lines for a while now.
@Mwirigi The worst captive app I have ever used. What's the need is forcing one to use a Safaricom SIM card only Internet? Interestingly, even its own Safaricom Home Internet is rejected. Proceeding to uninstall.
Spur-winged Lapwing (Vanellus spinosus).
This is one of the most common and conspicuous waders you will encounter along the alkaline lakes of the Rift Valley. They are famously protective of their nests (which are just simple scrapes in the ground) and will aggressively dive-bomb anything—from humans to large herbivores—that gets too close.

This vibrant bird is a Lilac-breasted Roller (Coracias caudatus).
It is widely considered the unofficial national bird of Kenya due to its stunning, multicolored plumage, which includes around eight different colours.
Why the name "Roller"? They are named for their spectacular aerial displays during courtship, where they fly to great heights and then dive toward the ground while "rolling" and rocking from side to side.

Lesser Flamingos (Phoeniconaias minor).
Fun Fact: The pink color of their feathers isn't genetic—it actually comes from carotenoid pigments found in the algae they eat. Without this specific diet, their feathers would eventually turn white.
Interesting Fact: The sheer number of flamingos at Lake Bogoria can sometimes exceed one million birds, making it one of the most famous avian spectacles in the world.

The Best Shot: Head to the shores near Kampi ya Samaki at sunrise. You’ll see the fishermen heading out into the golden mist. The drone shot of the Lkadich against the water is one of the most famous images of Baringo. Made of the Ambatch wood (the "Unsinkable" wood) is so porous and air-filled, these boats can be bitten by a crocodile or bumped by a hippo and they still won't sink. They are essentially a floating life-raft made of sticks. #landscapes #landscapephotography #dronephotography #lakebaringo #loruk #camping #sunsets #sunrise #dawn #baringocounty
