An opportunity for a comeback game against the Atlanta Dream as All-Star Dominique Malonga looks to show her best to the league.
My pregame thoughts as I also talk on the identity that Seattle has been working hard to establish:

Dominique Malonga has been named to the #WNBA All-Star team as a Reserve. I would think she would be the youngest player ever to become an All-Star. The Seattle Storm’s 20 year old Center is now a WNBA All-Star!

That’s the exact type of play the Storm need from her.
A veteran player who can step up and put up good points off the bench is what the team needs to create a cushion and allow for their younger players to go to work with confidence.

Flau’jae Johnson shows she can recover in today’s 82-64 win against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Dominique Malonga may have struggled to score she still impacted the game with a solid 9 boards.
The Storm were able to pull a win off in the process of growing.

7:00 PM the Seattle Storm are pushing for a win against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Seattle second half struggles have defined the last two losses.
Seattle has been experiencing growing pains in their performance but has shown they can compete at a high level.

I do want to add that as of this past month I think the ROY race is a little more leveled. Olivia Miles is still the top name on the list, but Awa Fam, Flau’jae Johnson and Azzi Fudd are worthy contenders for the accolade per their most recent performances.
Dominique Malonga fouled out last game. Could this relate to the teams previous discipline struggles?
Personally I believe it is the result of a young center getting used to the roll they play in protecting the rim.

In the rematch tomorrow the Storm get a chance to test their consistency in improvements against the Mercury.
After their past two wins Seattle looks to their young core to stay in shape and pull through.

Ezi Magbegor making a return would mean that Seattle will get a great boost to their defense and rebounding.
This will hopefully provide some new solid presence in different rotations of Storm players.

Dominique has been playing excellent especially in rebounding and second chance scoring.
Players like her and Awa Fam pull defenses into the post which allows for better 3 point shooting opportunities giving Seattle a defining offensive format.

Our 2026 Week 7 Player of the Week is Dominique Malonga
Dom led the Seattle Storm to 2-1 record with wins over New York and Atlanta while averaging a double-double
Of course Seattle's young core can be credited with a lot of this success but the energy brought by the older players on the roster such as Natisha Hiedeman and Jade Melbourne give a great example for them to follow.
The Storm have awakened on offense recently, and as both ends of basketball are connected I looked for insights in defensive stats.
In their last two wins Seattle held both teams to below 10 offensive rebounds. A smooth transition to offense must be helpful.
