@MsCarroll17 A30) through my teaching practices! I’m going to share it with my students through the ways that I teach, and with my colleagues and team during our PLCs!
@MsCarroll17 A29) I enjoyed my experience as a pirate! The only suggestion I would have is to post the questions at the end of the school day/earlier in the evening, so that we could answer them throughout the day as opposed to night (im a grandma and go to sleep early😂)
@MsCarroll17 A28) the book has made me more cognizant of what I do (right and wrong) in the classroom and how I need to focus on engaging more strategies to make learning an exciting environment rather than something the kids “have” to do
@MsCarroll17@MrPhillips1012 Yes, Ellen was telling me that you used study island today but that it was like Kahoot! That is awesome. I am going to have to try it!
@MsCarroll17 A26) I consider it a success anytime I can get a student to see something from a different perspective or get them to get out of their comfort zone!
@MrPhillips1012@MsCarroll17 I love Kahoot. It’s a great review tool. That and Quizizz I love! If you have any other interactive sites that you love let me know 🙌
@MsCarroll17 A25) the world is super technological now (we have a section in economics where we discuss this), so for most of my activities, I try to include technology, especially since the kids are so tech savvy and tech-focused
@MsCarroll17 A24) When talking about the core character trait of patriotism I talk about how every year my family and I celebrate the 4th of July at Yorktown beach (my hometown) and the significance of celebrating at that specific place
@MsCarroll17 A23) when we learn about the core character traits, I assign a trait to each group and have them act out that trait to demonstrate how to be an effective citizen, both in the classroom and out
@MsCarroll17 A22) I think trying the interior design hook or the safari hook would super fun to try! Giving the students (and myself!) a change of scenery would definitely be more engaging than just sitting at our normal tables every day
@MsCarroll17 A21) when I assign a project, I often will allow for different ways students can prepare it. For example, they can write a break up letter to King George, create a song/rap, or even act out a skit
@MsCarroll17 A20)I liked the Mozart hook idea, where you can incorporate music into your lesson. I am a big fan of using music because that is something everyone can enjoy. My 5th grade teacher used “we didn’t start the fire” and I still remember that lesson to this day
@MsCarroll17 When we do stations, there’s some movement involved in that, but like David said when we review with trashketball (yes the girls like it too!), the girls get really into it!
@MrPhillips1012@MsCarroll17 I think more teachers, myself included, should include current events in their lessons because it would definitely add more to the lesson, plus it would help them relate the content to their lives
